I’ll be honest; I am a fan of Great American Country (GAC) versus Country Music Television (CMT). It seems that every time you turn on CMT there are stupid shows about how to be a good wife (Wifeswap) or how to raise your kids (Nanny 911) or how hillbillies want to have the most redneck weddings (My Big Redneck Wedding). Comparing CMT to GAC, every time you tune in to GAC there is country music playing, which in my opinion is the way it should be. There is either award shows showing live performances, The Grand Ole Opry with live performances and inductees, top 20 countdown, or simply just new artists with new songs just begging to get their names out there. I think this is how a country music television should be, 100% music with the artists and songs we love!! Below is a list of GAC’s & CMT’s top 10 country songs as of today, January 2009.
GAC
- Blake Shelton She Wouldn't Be Gone
- Carrie Underwood Just A Dream
- Trace Adkins Muddy Water
- Kellie Pickler Don't You Know You're Beautiful
- Billy Ray Cyrus Somebody Said A Prayer
- Sugarland Already Gone
- Miranda Lambert More Like Her
- Brooks & Dunn Cowgirls Don't Cry
- Josh Turner Everything Is Fine
- Taylor Swift Love Story
CMT
- Taylor Swift Love Story
- Zac Brown Band Chicken Fried
- Toby Keith God Love Her
- Brad Paisley Start a Band
- Jamey Johnson In Color
- Alan Jackson Country Boy
- Dierks Bently Feel That Fire
- Blake Shelton She Wouldn't Be Gone
- Miranda Lambert More Like Her
- Brooks & Dunn Cowgirls Don't Cry
Now you be the judge... Who's countdown are you a fan of?? CMT or GAC?
CMT>GAC, however GAC plays significantly more music videos than CMT. What are your thoughts on Dierks Bentley's new album Feel That Fire? The song "I wanna make you close your eyes," the new equivalent of "come a little closer" (in my opinion), I think will be a hit once the CD is out a little longer.
