Wedding Songs

Marriage is one thing a women dreams about, the perfect man, the perfect day, the perfect dress, hair, nails and makeup let’s just face it… women want that day to be perfect. If you’re crazy about lyrics, songs and country music like I am the perfect song is also something you need for the perfect wedding. I know marriage is in the not-so-near future for me but that doesn’t mean I can’t dream about this so called perfect day in advance right? So I, over the years, have compiled a list of songs that I would love to be played at my wedding or maybe just a few but I can’t choose just one!! These songs I have chosen are all sappy love songs, so if all of them were played, we would have everybody in tears. So here it goes;

1. Michael Peterson – From Here to Eternity
2. Andy Griggs – You Won’t Ever Be Lonely
3. Reba McEntire – The Heart Won’t Lie
4. Tracy Byrd – Keeper of the Stars
5. Martina McBride – I Love You
6. Garth Brooks – In Another’s Eyes
7. Tim McGraw – My Best Friend
8. Diamond Rio – One More Day
9. Clint Black – When I say I Do
10. Shania Twain – You’re Still the One
11. Shania Twain – From This Moment
12. Brian White – You Know How I Feel
13. John Michael Montgomery – Heaven Sent Me You
14. Jimmy Wayne – You are
15. John Michael Montgomery – I Swear

These are just a few songs that I would LOVE to be able to play at my wedding—someday. I just need to find me the perfect man that will let all of those decisions up to me (I think mines pretty darn getting close) ;). If you don’t recognize any of these titles I recommend you search the lyrics or even go download one!!

Toby Keith Biggest & Baddest Tour

I am going to the Toby Keith concert tonight at the Peoria Civic Center!! I'll come back and give a review and hopefully some pictures!!!!!

Classic Country

Okay… who is sick of hearing the same 20 songs over and over on the radio? The radio is not the only one that’s guilty of it either… all countdowns day after day are the same!! I am personally a fan of Country Classics and Legends, listening to those songs over and over will never get old to me, this is why I listen to my IPod 95% of the time and the other 5% is me listening to my radio or a countdown but only if I have to. On a local radio station in my hometown has a Classic Country section on Sunday nights from 7 to 10. I think this is a great idea to focus more on what everyone likes and will all around attract more listeners is they broaden what they play. I like the oldies but goodies but I also like to pull out my IPod and listen to a playlist from when I was younger, so these songs are not classics yet but they are still older. I think it would be a real hit if there was a radio station that played songs 5 years old and older, this means no new songs being overplayed and we can finally here the songs we grew up on that we haven’t heard in years!! I put together a list of artists that I would love to hear their older songs played on the radio:

1. Billy Ray Cyrus
2. Chris Ledux
3. Billy Dean
4. Hank Williams Jr & Sr
5. Andy Griggs
6. Dwight Yoakam
7. George Jones
8. Clint Black
9. Travis Tritt
10. Tracy Lawrence

I’m sure my list could go on forever but these are my top ten oldies by goodies!

GAC vs. CMT

I’ll be honest; I am a fan of Great American Country (GAC) versus Country Music Television (CMT). It seems that every time you turn on CMT there are stupid shows about how to be a good wife (Wifeswap) or how to raise your kids (Nanny 911) or how hillbillies want to have the most redneck weddings (My Big Redneck Wedding). Comparing CMT to GAC, every time you tune in to GAC there is country music playing, which in my opinion is the way it should be. There is either award shows showing live performances, The Grand Ole Opry with live performances and inductees, top 20 countdown, or simply just new artists with new songs just begging to get their names out there. I think this is how a country music television should be, 100% music with the artists and songs we love!! Below is a list of GAC’s & CMT’s top 10 country songs as of today, January 2009.

GAC
  1. Blake Shelton She Wouldn't Be Gone
  2. Carrie Underwood Just A Dream
  3. Trace Adkins Muddy Water
  4. Kellie Pickler Don't You Know You're Beautiful
  5. Billy Ray Cyrus Somebody Said A Prayer
  6. Sugarland Already Gone
  7. Miranda Lambert More Like Her
  8. Brooks & Dunn Cowgirls Don't Cry
  9. Josh Turner Everything Is Fine
  10. Taylor Swift Love Story

CMT

  1. Taylor Swift Love Story
  2. Zac Brown Band Chicken Fried
  3. Toby Keith God Love Her
  4. Brad Paisley Start a Band
  5. Jamey Johnson In Color
  6. Alan Jackson Country Boy
  7. Dierks Bently Feel That Fire
  8. Blake Shelton She Wouldn't Be Gone
  9. Miranda Lambert More Like Her
  10. Brooks & Dunn Cowgirls Don't Cry

Now you be the judge... Who's countdown are you a fan of?? CMT or GAC?

Sugarland's "It Happens"

Sugarland’s performance at the CMA’s was simply amazing… Jennifer Nettles has a beautiful voice!! My favorite song is Stay, that’s just simply one of those songs you have to turn up super loud in your car and just belt it out and sing like nobody is watching. And yes I am guilty of this, especially when Sugarland comes on the radio! This past summer I bought their new album Love on the inside and all I want to do (get it, that’s a song of theres ;) ) is listen and sing along. Another favorite of mine is the second track off their Love on the Inside album called It Happens.

“Ain't no rhyme or reason
No complicated meaning
Ain't no need to over think itLet go laughing
Life don't go quite like you planned it
We try so hard to understandIrrefutable, indisputable
The fact is, Psssh… It happens”

This song is about the true human being in life that makes mistakes and is, nope, not perfect. The song starts off by her missing her alarm clock, running late to work, with no cup of coffee, no shower and when she arrives to work she realizes oh hell there is no story or explanation, no rhyme reason or complicated meaning, it happens. This song is fun in the sense that you can admit how you’re not perfect and sit back and laugh and simple say PSSSSH… IT HAPPENS!!!!

Aaron Tippin Concert

After I listed all of the concerts I have attended, one special concert came to mind. It was the Aaron Tippin concert about 3 years ago at the local fair in Bloomington. Once you paid the admission for the fair the concert was FREE!! (B104 the local radio station does this every summer). Before Aaron even took the stage there was some cover band that played a few songs that everybody knew and sang along to. I can still remember what I was wearing- a pair of white shorts, a teal tank top, and a real cowgirl hat I stole from a friend. In between artist’s the guys from B104’s morning show Brent and Kevin were up on stage throwing out free T-shirts, it came down to the last shirt and they announced that who ever caught this certain shirt would get to bring a friend and sit in front of the front row!! Of course I didn’t catch it but a guy that was a few rows ahead of me did. Brent and Kevin told him to choose wisely and come up on stage; somebody from the crowd yelled “pick a hot chick”. So this guy stood on his chair looked around as if he were looked out to the sea and pointed at ME!!! I had no clue who this kid was and still to this day don’t know his name, but it made for a good time!! The concert was great and after the concert we got to go back by his bus to get pictures and autographs with him!! The highlight of my summer was when he looked at me, hugged me, and then said “You have the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.” Ummm… I was IN HEAVEN!!!

Concerts I've Attended

You might consider myself a little obsessed when I site here and list all the Country Music artists I have seen in concert but I will give it a whirl to see if I can name them all…

  1. Kenny Chesney
  2. Rascal Flatts (2x)
  3. Craig Morgan
  4. Trent Tomlinson
  5. Aaron Tippin
  6. Joe Diffe
  7. Trace Adkins
  8. Leahy (Shania Twain’s backup band)
  9. Dierks Bently (2x)
  10. Bucky Covington
  11. Luke Bryan
  12. Toby Keith
  13. Miranda Lambert (2x)
  14. Randy Rodgers Band
  15. Chris Young
  16. George Strait
  17. Travis Tritt

There are probably others artists that opened for the bigger names that I can’t remember either due to because they were quite a bit ago… or due to the drink in my right hand. My all time favorite concert was Rascal Flatts. There stage present just made kept your attention the entire time because of how big and extravagant the concert was. My least favorite concert had to be George Strait, I love George Strait’s older songs and he just sang all of his new songs which I personally am not a fan of. He also just kind of sat on his stool and played music, which ill give it to him, he is old.. but I like the concerts where the artist's get the crowd into it and make it more fun for everyone!!!! Leahy was at the Illinois State University Braden Auditorium, I went with my mother and it was pretty cool to spend some time with her doing something we both like. Leahy is Shania Twains old backup band so it’s all fiddles, pianos, and river dancing. I used to listen to this CD as a child so it brought back a few childhood memories.

Carrie Underwood's "I Told You So"

Okay… what girl doesn’t LOVE Carrie Underwood? Guys too for that matter!! She is drop dead gorgeous, fun, young, a good loving Christian, and a All American Girl (as her lyrics will agree with me)!! I think my favorite thing about Carrie Underwood is how real she is. Since she did “come from” American Idol she truly knows what it’s like to be a fan and really knows what normal is like!! Carrie Underwood’s new album Carnival Ride is a must have! Her new single off this album is I Told You So which was redone after Randy Travis had originally sang this song I think about twenty years ago. Although Randy Travis is an awesome person and I respect his music, Carrie’s version is a bit more hip, which Randy Travis says himself, which I saw on GAC when Carrie Underwood was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. This song I Told You So is about a female or male who call’s up her ex after a while of being broken up and says:

“Suppose I called you up tonightAnd told you that I love youAnd suppose I said I want to come back homeAnd suppose I cried and said I think I finally learned my lesson And Im tired of spending all my time aloneIf I told you that I realized you're all I ever wanted And it's killing me to be so far awayWould you tell my that you love me tooAnd would we cry together Or would you simply laugh at me and say...”

Then it goes into saying I told you so… & how the ex has found somebody new and things simply just won’t be the same.

James Otto's New Album - MY NEW FAV!!

I was never a fan of James Otto… his first few songs were ugh okay. This was my opinion about Mr. Otto until I download his first album onto my album… not you can consider me HOOKED!! I was watching CMT’s Cribs the other day, and he just seems like a down to earth man. His wife was gorgeous, his house was amazing, and you can tell that life for him was going good… he just seemed happy. I guess I would be happy too if I was doing what I love and making millions!! If James Otto has a concert anywhere remotely close to Bloomington-Normal you can consider my butt THERE!!!
If you were to ask me what my favorite James Otto song is, I would probably start with one, and then continue on and on as if you asked me what songs did he even sing! My favorites are “For You”, “You Don’t Act like my Women”, “Sunset Man”, and “Drink and Dial”. Yes most of these are slow and a traditional country song, but I think that’s why I’m a fan.
“For You” talks about how this guy will do anything for his female yet the only thing she wants is for him to leave her alone and find someone new… and he ends the song with I can’t do that for you.
“You Don’t Act like my Women” is a recent find for me, and just heard it for the first time a days ago. This song is about a couple that is going there the fussin’ and fighting that any couple goes through, and how he will be the man of the relationship and drop his wall and apologize and take the blame for everything because “You don’t act like my woman and I don’t feel like your man”.

Rascal Flatts "Here Comes Goodbye"

I myself have attended more than a few Concerts of the admired Rascal Flatts, and I must say they are my by far-- favorite. I must not be the only one that thinks Rascal Flatts is amazing because they were Academy of Country Music Top Vocal Group for 2008!!! I’m not going lie, my all time favorite country music group/band is Rascal Flatts... The band members are young and fun, there lyrics definitely belong in country music, and there concerts are simply amazing. I am usually the first to go out and buy their new album when they come out and the first to know every word to just about every single song they sing. The first single from their upcoming album Unstoppable is "Here Comes Goodbye." This album comes out in April and you best believe that I will be the first to own it! Their new single is a traditional sad and sappy country love ballad, but those are my favorite kind!! There songs are usually tearjerkers and this song as well, this new song is talking about a relationship that is about to end, and the end (goodbye) is near.

The chorus is as followed:

“Here comes goodbye
Here comes the last time
Here comes the start of every sleepless night
The first of every tear I’m gonna cry
Here comes the pain
Here comes me wishing things would never change
And she was right here in my arms tonight
But here comes goodbye”

Julianne Hough "My Hallelujah Song"

At first there was going to be no way that I was going to like any of Julianne Hough's songs, my first impression was that just because she was a dancer on a Television show that she was going to come over to the Country music industry and become famous. Well my first impression was wrong after I heard her song “My Hallelujah Song". I am a big Christian and when a country music artist could slip any form of the lord and savior into a song, I’m a fan. I first heard this song on Great American Country’s (GAC) Top Twenty Countdown about a month ago, and I was hooked. When you hear that song or watch the video she makes you want to get up and dance like you’re a kid again. That song is now number 17 on the countdown as it has dropped over the weeks. It’s still my number one pick when I turn on my IPod in the morning.
I am also a fan of Julianne Hough’s legs, talk about motivation when you catch your boyfriend salivating over her videos. On television and magazines there are pictures of her with the latest fashion and me, being a poor college gal wishes to take a step into her wardrobe. She is a cute little blonde that loves to dance and you can just tell she is full of life ready to make her career in singing and dancing.

Top Twenty Countdown - Blake Shelton

As of today, Blake Shelton is coming in at number one on Great American Country’s (GAC) Top Twenty Countdown with "She Wouldn’t be Gone.” I liked this song by Blake when I first heard it… about 3 months ago. Don’t get me wrong Blake the song is great, the lyrics are better, and you look smoking in the video, but why does a song stay on the countdowns for more than a month? It gets to the point where I can’t even watch GAC’s countdown because the top ten video’s are so outdated and overplayed on the local radio stations. I guess it does give the artist’s good publicity for the hard work that was put into each and every song, and I do appreciate that.

My favorite part of this song is:
“Wouldn't be driving like hell flying like crazy down the highway
Calling everyone we know stopping any place she might be
Going any place she might go beating on the dash
screaming out her name at the windshield”

This being my favorite part because it seems to be every time I am in my car alone I am guilty of getting way to into the song. My car starts to speed up, my voice gets a little louder with each word, and I start to take part in the song.
