Playlist - My Praise Mix

Country music often contains a message and lyrics about church, Christ, God, Jesus, and faith. This playlist is titled My Praise Mix, which it contains songs that you would listen to, to worship the lord Jesus Christ. This playlist doesn’t contain many country artists but if you like country music most will like Christian music as well. Although this playlist doesn’t contain songs from these certain artist here are a few that do have Christian songs along with country; Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Shania Twain, Julianne Hough, Randy Travis and Josh Turner. I used to try and listen to only Christian Music on Sundays, which I have strayed from, so I usually listen to this mix on my way to church on Sunday mornings.

Taylor Swift Fearless

Grammys
I was watching the Grammy’s the other night and Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) did a duet of one of Taylors new singles off of her new album. I think they both did a good job, as performing In front of a large live audience probably isn’t that easiest thing to do. As the song went on I honestly believe that Miley sang the song better than Taylor Swift did, and that’s her own song she wrote!! I understand all the hype surrounds Taylor Swift with her voice and song writing ability, but I honestly don’t think she is much to listen to. Her songs definitely don’t pertain to me, and her lyrics are written and directed towards 15 year olds.
Hats off to Taylor Swift for her awesome Career but honestly I don’t care for Taylor Swift’s new CD. It is written and directed toward tweens, and doesn’t interest me.

Here is the list of songs you can find on Taylor Swifts new CD;

Fearless
Fifteen
Love Story
Hey Stephen
White Horse
You Belong With Me
Breathe
Tell Me Why
Your Not Sorry
The Way I loved You
Forever & Always
The Best Day
Change

6Strings

A locally own bar in town is a must to stop in for a drink or two if visiting the area and are a big country music junkie, like myself. This bar is called 6 Strings. 6Strings is a country bar located with the rest of the Downtown bars here in town. They often feature many new artists that few may have heard of and they also feature some local artists that sing country favorites. My favorite band that 6strings has had on stage is the Low Cash Cowboys. They played on new years on live coverage, so you might have seen them! I have made a list of bands that 6 strings is presenting in the next few months;

02/19/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull
02/20/09 10:00 - Jerrod Niemann
02/21/09 10:00 - Jerrod Niemann
02/27/09 10:00 - John Karl
02/28/09 10:00 - John Karl
03/05/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull
03/06/09 10:00 - Dan Hubbard
03/19/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull
03/28/09 10:00 - Martin McDaniel
04/02/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull
04/04/09 10:00 - LoCash Cowboys
04/10/09 10:00 - McKenzies Mill
04/11/09 10:00 - McKenzies Mill
04/16/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull
04/17/09 10:00 - Gypsy Road
05/01/09 10:00 - LoCash Cowboys
05/07/09 09:00 - Mechanical Bull

I Personally have seen Jerrod Niemann and he is definitely a must see. I also went to a concert last year and they features Chris Young (as you may have remembered him from television), and Stephen Cochran. Its fun to see these new artists perform before they go big, and then to follow then through country music afterwords!

Church Camp

So I know this has nothing to do with Music, but I had a amazing experience this summer that I have never really talked nor written about. I had the chance to be a camp consular at a Christian church camp this summer. A week before we left for southern Illinois I was very hesitant about going, I was trying to think of any and every excuse to get out of going. I had a new boyfriend I didn’t want to leave, I hate missing social events, and I knew nobody. I get a phone call from my youth pastor the week before we left stating that I would have to bring an air mattress, sleeping bags, bug spray, and citronella candles… Now why on earth would I need all of these supplies for a silly church camp? Well I soon found out after arriving at camp. For 5 days straight I would be sleeping in a Hogan (to picture a Hogan, simply picture wooden floors with a roof, no walls). I don’t like bugs, I don’t like sleeping outside, I don’t think I am responsible enough to be in charge of 13 8-year old girls, and I’m not liking camp at this point. The first few nights sleep was non-existent, mosquito bites were everywhere, and the presence of children surrounded me.

I got to know this girls on a deeper basis, I actually fell in love with all of them! The way they felt about Christ and how god was living through them was awesome, they taught me a lot those 5 days. The 5th night came quicker than I thought and I was so used to the bugs, the heat, the kids, and the outdoors that I slept like a baby. This was definitely an experience I will never forget…. Yet never do again.

Why I love Country Music!!

The last 5 years is when I have really gotten into country music and truly analyzing the lyrics. When I hear a certain song on the radio I am very quick to recognize the artist and song title right away. I guess I music is just a huge part of my life! I listen to my iPod about every chance I get and any spare time I have I am downloading songs and looking up their lyrics. I guess I can blame it on my parents for loving country music so much. I grew up listening to classic country with my father; country music was always on in his truck. My favorite is when the Oakridge Boy’s “Elvira” song would come on and he would sing along like he had a long white beard and a part of the Boys. If you knew my father, he is quite quiet and reserved so listening to him sing along to a country favorite was always a treat.

My favorite thing to do is download a complete album or albums of an artist I like and listen to it in its entirety. I usually find a few songs that I go crazy over and I never get sick of it because not all tracks from a CD come out on the radio. And then usually if it does I already know the song and lyrics and my friends are amazed at how I know this new song that just came out on the radio… Today!! I have recently done this with Julianne Hough’s and James Otto’s new albums, and yes I have found many tracks that I know consider my favorites!!

Toby Keith Concert Review

So I told you all I would be back to write a review on the Toby Keith Concert… so here I am. The concert was in Peoria and was FREE!! I won tickets off the radio for answering some stupid question right, which makes for an even better time knowing you aren’t spending any of your own money. First off the concert was AMAZING!! To start off the night Jason Aldean was full of energy, running in all sorts of different directions, yelling and screaming, and bouncing up and down. He had stated at the beginning of the night this particular concert was being filmed for his next music video, which got the crows kinda wild and crazy... that led to all around good performance by Toby Keith. Toby’s ambiance was big and bad, just like the name of the tour.. “The Biggest and Baddest Tour”. There was fireworks that went off at certain times of his popular songs, and the screens were playing his music videos during the concert. The songs listed below were included in his concert;

· God Love Her
· How do You Like Me Now
· I Wanna Talk About Me
· You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like That
· Love Me If You Can
· Courtesy Of The Red, White, & Blue
· She Never Cried In Front of Me
· I’ll Never Smoke Weed With Willie Again
· Who’s Your Daddy
· Beer For My Horses
· I Love This Bar

In the middle of Toby’s song “I Love This Bar”, he wanted the crowd to sing along, so he stopped the song and said a buddy of his was in Iceland for new years and when this song came on, the whole bar was singing, and that’s when the crowd joined in. The only thing that would of made this concert better was if Willie Nelson came out and joined in singing “Beer For My Horses”.
